Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Ovolo Group have entered into a strategic partnership that will see five Ovolo hotels in Australia and Hong Kong join the Wyndham brand later this year. The agreement allows Ovolo Group to continue owning and managing its brand while working exclusively with Wyndham to explore further development opportunities across Asia Pacific.
The move comes as demand for experiential travel continues to grow, especially among younger travelers such as Gen Z. According to McKinsey, experiential travel represents a $1 trillion global opportunity.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone for Wyndham, further expanding our upscale presence in the Asia Pacific region by combining Ovolo’s strengths in the lifestyle segment with our extensive global network. The future of travel isn’t about sameness—it’s about spaces with soul, brands with a point of view and experiences that don’t blur into the background,” said Joon Aun OOI, President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific.
“Ovolo isn’t just a hotel brand, it’s a lifestyle, a creative force that fuses fashion, art, music and entertainment. Since 2010, we’ve built a bold, culture-led brand that disrupts the cookie-cutter hotel experience. Now through our partnership with Wyndham, we’re flipping the script to unlock bold new growth opportunities by franchising a lifestyle brand without diluting its DNA. Wyndham is a global leader in hotel franchising—with the scale, infrastructure, and expertise to help us grow with intention and impact. Just as importantly, Ovolo brings something different—an edge and energy that complements Wyndham’s presence in the upscale lifestyle market,” said Shivang Jhunjhnuwala, Chief of Staff at Ovolo Group.
Five existing Ovolo hotels—located in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, and Hong Kong—will be integrated into Wyndham’s sales, marketing and distribution platforms later this fall. These properties represent over 450 rooms and will participate in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. This will give approximately 120 million members access to Ovolo’s offerings in new destinations.
The hotels joining include:
– Ovolo Central in Hong Kong
– Ovolo Nishi in Canberra
– Ovolo South Yarra in Melbourne
– Ovolo The Valley in Brisbane
– Ovolo Woolloomooloo in Sydney
Each property is known for unique design elements and immersive guest experiences.
Wyndham has invested nearly $350 million since 2018 on technology upgrades for owners—including next-generation property management systems—and offers what USA Today readers rated as the industry’s top hotel rewards program.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts operates approximately 8,300 hotels across about 100 countries on six continents. Its portfolio includes 25 brands such as Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Microtel, La Quinta and others. More information can be found at www.wyndhamhotels.com
