With the longest winter season in Argentina, Ushuaia and Cerro Castor are attracting international tourists with a variety of snow activities. The snow season, lasting from mid-June to late September or possibly October, offers numerous experiences for visitors.
Cerro Castor is noted as the southernmost ski resort globally and is renowned for its snow quality. It provides slopes suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Apart from skiing, Cerro Castor offers other activities such as cross-country skiing, ice skating on Argentina’s only ice rink open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and snowshoeing.
The resort features eight gastronomic points offering options ranging from fast food to gourmet local cuisine. Some notable restaurants include Morada del Águila Restaurant at the hill’s base and others like Parador Viejo Castor and Snowbar.
For equipment needs, Cerro Castor hosts three mountain boutiques providing top-brand snow gear. The Cerro Castor App allows visitors to check live weather conditions and participate in daily activities.
In addition to the offerings at Cerro Castor, Ushuaia presents other winter experiences such as the “End of the world train,” which provides historical tours through Ushuaia’s winter landscapes. Visitors can also enjoy horseback riding in the snow or take part in 4×4 off-road adventures.
As preparations for the 2025 snow season continue, pre-sale opportunities are available now with daily passes going on sale in March.
