Uruguay and Argentina share a strong cultural and historical bond, with frequent travel between the two countries due to their geographic proximity. In 2025, Uruguayans will have several opportunities to visit Argentina during long weekends and holidays.

Uruguay’s holiday calendar for 2025 includes 15 national holidays, both non-working and working days. Non-working holidays are ideal for planning trips in advance. These include January 1 (New Year), May 1 (International Workers’ Day), July 18 (Oath of the Constitution), August 25 (Declaration of Independence), and December 25 (Christmas – Family Day).

Working holidays can also be used for short getaways. Some of these dates are January 6 (Epiphany), March 3 and 4 (Carnival), April 17 and 18 (Holy Week – Tourism Week), April 19 (Landing of the 33 Orientals), May 18 (Battle of Las Piedras), June 19 (Birth of Artigas), October 12 (Day of the Race), and November 2 (Day of the Dead).

Certain long weekends are particularly convenient for traveling to Argentina. The Oath of the Constitution weekend from July 18 to July 20 is perfect for enjoying gastronomic and cultural offerings in cities like Buenos Aires or Rosario. The Declaration of Independence weekend from August 23 to August 25 offers an opportunity to enjoy Argentine winter destinations such as thermal springs in Entre Ríos or urban experiences in Buenos Aires.

Recommended destinations in Argentina include Buenos Aires, known for its vibrant culture, gastronomy, shopping, and nightlife; the Argentine littoral with its hot springs and natural landscapes; Córdoba with its sierras offering nature and cultural activities; Mendoza known for wine tourism; and Argentine Patagonia famous for stunning natural landscapes like Bariloche and El Calafate.

For Uruguayan tourists planning a trip to Argentina, a valid ID card is sufficient documentation. Transport options include ferries, flights, cars, or buses via international bridges. It is advisable to carry Argentine pesos or use electronic payment methods. Advance bookings are recommended during long weekends due to high demand in popular cities like Buenos Aires or Mendoza. Travel insurance is also highly recommended.

Argentina remains an accessible destination for Uruguayans during the holidays in 2025 due to its variety of attractions. Planning ahead allows travelers to make the most out of their visits.
