Bangkok, July 7, 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and private sector partners, has launched an initiative titled “Village to the World #SustainableAgenda.” This program aims to transform local communities into examples of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

The initiative is part of TAT’s strategy to promote sustainable tourism as a key component of Thailand’s long-term development. “Village to the World is more than a tourism project. It is a new blueprint for Thailand’s sustainable development — powered by community, backed by business, and measured by real impact,” stated Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor.

The launch event was led by Ms. Thapanee and included prominent figures such as Dr. Soraphol Tulayasathien from SET, Mr. Issara Riutrakulpaiboon from the Department of Cultural Promotion under the Ministry of Tourism, senior executives from listed companies, community representatives, and media personnel.

This initiative seeks to align local development with business objectives through a strong ESG framework. Under the concept “ESG Partnership for Impact,” SET-listed companies are paired with seven prototype communities across five provinces to create models that achieve balanced economic, social, and environmental outcomes.

In Chiang Mai, AIS focuses on digital skill-building in Mae Soon Noi and Doi Wiang communities. SCG and Yournique work on upstream circular economy models in Nan’s Pa Laeo Luang community. In Phitsanulok, BAFS connects agriculture with safety and sustainable tourism in Ban Mung Nuea community. Chon Buri’s Ban Amphoe community addresses marine waste solutions while Thai AirAsia collaborates with the Department of Cultural Promotion on cultural tourism routes in Lampang’s Tha Ma-O and Pong Sanuk communities.

These efforts aim to establish these seven communities as national models for sustainability initiated at the local level through public-private collaboration. Their progress could inspire similar initiatives nationwide.

The program signifies a shift from traditional Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) towards Shared Value — focusing not only on giving back but also building forward. Each initiative leverages local potential with plans for scaling up to national-level sustainability.

Leading travel platforms and airlines such as Gother, Local Alike, Yournique, SiamRise, Friday Trip, Guide Guru, and Thai AirAsia support TAT’s campaign by making these communities more accessible to travelers globally.
