The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico City and various public and private sector partners, is marking five decades of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Mexico. The collaboration comes as part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 initiative.
On August 7, TAT launched the Thailand Special Deal campaign with El Palacio de Hierro, a leading department store in Mexico. The campaign provides exclusive travel promotions aimed at affluent Mexican consumers. El Palacio de Hierro’s network includes 31 stores and over 100,000 credit card members, offering significant reach for these tourism offers.
Ahead of this launch, TAT organized a training session for 30 agents from Viajes Palacio and hosted a networking event for premium tour operators and media at Galanga House on August 6. These activities were designed to strengthen business relationships and update partners on tourism products.
Cultural exchange was highlighted during Thai Festival Mexico 2025, which took place from August 9 to 10 at the National Center of Arts (CENART) in Mexico City. The festival featured performances by Molam Idol Band (The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band), a live mural created by Thai street artist TRK (Teerayut Puechpen), and mask-painting activities that combined Thai artistry with elements of Mexico’s lucha libre tradition.
“TAT is focused on growing the quality traveller segment, and Mexico is central to that strategy,” said Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor. “It’s a market with strong potential. Our aim is to deliver sustainable, value-rich experiences that resonate with Mexican travellers.”
From January 1 to August 3, 2025, Thailand welcomed 26,960 tourists from Mexico. This figure places Mexico as the second largest Latin American market for Thai tourism after Brazil. TAT aims to increase arrivals from Mexico to 51,600 by the end of the year—a projected growth of 20% compared to 2024—through ongoing promotional campaigns and cultural initiatives.
