Royal Caribbean Group is advancing onboard entertainment by integrating traditional performances with new technology. The company offers a variety of shows across its fleet, including air, ice, water, and stage performances. According to the group, each day features hundreds of live music sets and dozens of cast members performing in numerous shows.

The company’s Broadway-style productions include musicals such as “Hairspray” and “Mamma Mia,” along with original works like “The Gift” and “Elements.” These productions aim to bring experiences similar to those found in New York’s Broadway or London’s West End to passengers at sea.

Celebrity Cruises’ production “Elements” uses technology, visuals, acrobatics, and costumes to represent the five elements. The show features “air sculptures” made from fabric moved by air currents and an air fountain effect that floats over the audience.

On Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class ships, the AquaTheater includes a deep pool and 30-foot diving platforms for aquatic performances. Shows there combine slack-line acts, aerial stunts, and music.

Digital technology is playing a larger role in entertainment on board. Holography and 360-degree screens are used to create immersive environments for audiences. For example, “Spectra’s Cabaret” takes place in the Two70 Lounge where windows transform into screens at night for interactive performances.

Silversea cruises offer educational entertainment through shows like “35 Millimeter Blockbuster,” which features songs from well-known films. Silversea also hosts S.A.L.T. Talks—live cooking demonstrations led by experts—to connect guests with regional food traditions.

Rehearsals for these productions take place at Royal Caribbean Group Entertainment Studio. The studio covers more than 132,000 square feet and includes multiple dance studios, vocal rooms, aerial studios, and a theater seating 300 people.

Performers come from diverse backgrounds including Olympic athletes and theater professionals from Broadway and West End stages. This range aims to ensure high-quality entertainment for guests.
