Pendleton, a small town located at the northeast tip of Lake Hartwell, covers nearly four square miles. Despite its size, every part of Pendleton is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The town’s dining scene is notable for its variety and quality. Among the standout establishments are Ruffage, 1826 Bistro on the Green, and Blue Heron Restaurant and Sushi Bar.

Ruffage, situated at 6610 Highway 76, emphasizes fresh ingredients in its creative menu offerings. The restaurant is known for dishes such as vegetable frittatas and shrimp and Brie BLT. It also offers honey basil slaw and desserts like blueberry pound cake.

1826 Bistro on the Green can be found at 105 Exchange Street in the historic Farmers Society Meeting Hall. This establishment offers a seasonal menu that changes daily and features themed wine dinners that are popular among patrons. Dishes include herbed grilled rainbow trout with green lentil salad and adobo short ribs.

Blue Heron Restaurant and Sushi Bar, located at 134 Exchange Street, specializes in fresh seafood and sushi while also offering beef and pork entrees. Its farm-to-table approach includes pizzas, pastas, and sandwiches. The restaurant has received multiple Wine Spectator awards.

These restaurants contribute to Pendleton’s reputation as a destination for quality dining experiences despite its small-town setting.
