Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced plans to introduce a luxury Park Hyatt hotel in downtown Vancouver, set to open in 2026. The property, formerly known as Shangri-La Vancouver, is currently operating under the name Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni. The hotel will undergo a multi-million-dollar redesign to enhance its guestrooms, lobby, public spaces, and spa before joining the Park Hyatt brand.
Scott Richer, vice president of development and owner relations for Canada at Hyatt, stated, “Reimagining this iconic luxury hotel will enable Hyatt to thoughtfully expand our luxury portfolio in Canada.” He added that the introduction of the Park Hyatt brand to Vancouver will further elevate the hotel with refined design and signature experiences for guests and World of Hyatt members. This move aims to strengthen Hyatt’s luxury brand presence in Canada’s top urban markets.
The 119-room hotel is now available for booking through all Hyatt reservation channels. It is located in downtown Vancouver and offers views of the harbor, coastal mountains, and cityscape. Guests can enjoy contemporary design features along with wellness amenities and a dining experience at Carlino restaurant that focuses on northern Italian cuisine.
Following its rebranding as Park Hyatt Vancouver, it will become the first Park Hyatt hotel in the city and the fifth Hyatt property in British Columbia. This expansion marks significant growth for the brand within one of Canada’s key leisure and group markets.
The property is part of the World of Hyatt program, allowing members to earn and redeem points for stays. Reservations can be made via their website.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is headquartered in Chicago and operates over 1,450 hotels globally as of March 31, 2025. The company’s offerings include various brands across different portfolios such as Luxury Portfolio, Lifestyle Portfolio, Inclusive Collection, Classics Portfolio, and Essentials Portfolio.
