Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Park Hyatt Johannesburg, marking the luxury brand’s third location in Africa. The hotel is situated in Rosebank, a district known for its cultural and urban appeal.
Mitch Gemmell, general manager of Park Hyatt Johannesburg, stated, “We are extremely proud to open Park Hyatt Johannesburg, extending the legacy of the Park Hyatt brand to Rosebank.” He emphasized that their team is committed to providing personalized service and curated experiences with attention to detail.
The hotel preserves its architectural heritage by blending classical and contemporary elements inspired by colonial residences. Originally built in the 1930s as a colonial mansion influenced by Sir Herbert Baker’s architectural style, it features restored original elements like arches and verandahs. The property includes an open-air courtyard with a jacaranda tree and sculpted gardens.
Park Hyatt Johannesburg offers 31 guestrooms and suites with king-size beds and floor-to-ceiling windows. Select rooms have private patios. Interiors include plush linens, marble bathrooms, Ndebele-patterned throws, and South African artwork.
The hotel’s Room 32 restaurant provides innovative cuisine using live-fire grills and locally sourced ingredients. The Lounge offers cocktails, wines, cigars, and celebrates South Africa’s winemaking heritage.
A spa will soon offer treatments using native ingredients like rooibos and marula oil. The hotel also has a fitness center and heated outdoor pool within landscaped gardens.
Hamza Farooqui, CEO of Millat Group, commented on the opening: “The opening of Park Hyatt Johannesburg embodies our commitment to providing exceptional service… deeply connected to the city’s rich heritage.”
Located near cultural attractions in Johannesburg, Park Hyatt aims to be a luxury destination for business and leisure travelers.
