Marriott International, Inc. has announced the signing of seven City Express by Marriott hotels in Brazil in collaboration with FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS. This marks the brand’s debut in the country and is part of a larger plan to open 30 properties across Brazil’s Northeast region over the next 15 years.
The announcement was made during a ceremony in Porto de Galinhas, attended by local government officials, representatives from the owning real estate firm, Marriott executives, and media members.
This move follows Marriott’s recent expansion efforts across the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region. In June, Marriott announced plans to introduce City Express by Marriott into El Salvador with four new hotels. Earlier this year, plans were revealed for launches in Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Peru starting January 2025. The brand also debuted in the United States in March and has plans to expand into Canada.
City Express by Marriott is now present in five countries with more than 60 projects planned for additional markets. Federico Greppi of Marriott International commented on the partnership with FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS: “We’re excited to continue our collaboration… This agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to combining Marriott’s global scale with local expertise—delivering efficient, high-quality accommodations.”
Bojan Kumer added: “These new hotel signings are a testament to the trust our owners and franchisees place in Marriott International… Brazil is a key growth market for us.” Tarcysio Malheiros from FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS stated: “We believe hospitality is a driver of development…”
The seven new properties will offer over 750 guest rooms across high-growth destinations in Northeast Brazil. In Ipojuca, Pernambuco, a hotel will open at Suape Industrial Port Complex—a major hub for economic development. Another property will open in Porto de Galinhas by 2028.
By early 2028, expansions are planned for Natal and Fortaleza with new hotels catering to various guests including public sector professionals and tourists. Additional hotels along Cabo de Santo Agostinho’s coast are expected by 2029.
City Express by Marriott joined the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in 2023 and targets cost-conscious travelers seeking modern accommodations. The brand’s regional expansion aligns with Marriott International’s strategy to diversify offerings and capture new customer segments.
