Marriott International has entered into a multi-unit agreement with Corporación Polaris and Cardedeu to introduce four City Express by Marriott hotels in El Salvador. This initiative marks the brand’s first entry into the country, contributing 440 rooms to Marriott’s presence in the affordable midscale segment across the Caribbean and Latin America region.

Alonso Burgos, Vice President of Development for Marriott International in CALA, expressed enthusiasm about entering El Salvador. “We are very excited to introduce City Express by Marriott to El Salvador, a vibrant and culturally rich market,” he stated. He emphasized that this agreement underlines Marriott’s commitment to expanding accessible hospitality options throughout the region.

Corporación Polaris President Alberto Guerrero highlighted the strategic importance of this development: “The anticipated debut of these City Express by Marriott properties in the coming years not only reaffirms Polaris’ commitment to excellence and regional growth but also helps meet the growing demand for hotel accommodations in El Salvador.”

El Salvador has experienced significant growth in tourism and business sectors recently, doubling its hotel room capacity through new agreements such as the JW Marriott Hotel San Salvador. The four planned City Express by Marriott locations aim to cater to both business and leisure travelers with their strategic positioning near key destinations like historic sites, airports, residential areas, and business centers.

Among these developments is City Centro by Marriott San Salvador located at San Salvador’s historic center, set to offer 31 rooms with proximity to cultural landmarks. Expected conversion is by year-end. Another project is City Express by Marriott Aeropuerto opening late 2026 near Ilopango International Airport. Concurrently, City Express by Marriott Santa Elena will be situated along the Pan-American Highway in a bustling district also slated for 2026. By late 2027, City Express Plus by Marriott San Benito will launch within San Benito district known for its vibrant mix of amenities.

City Express by Marriott continues its international expansion as part of the global portfolio under Marriott Bonvoy’s umbrella of over 30 brands. This move aligns with ongoing plans including expansions into Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru, as well as North America – marking an official debut in Nicaragua too. The brand currently encompasses 153 hotels worldwide with numerous projects underway.
