Marriott Bonvoy, the travel platform of Marriott International, has entered into a partnership with Shinsegae Duty Free, a leading duty-free retailer in South Korea. The collaboration aims to provide new opportunities for members of both loyalty programs to earn points and access additional rewards.

Under the agreement, starting August 26, Marriott Bonvoy members can collect two points for every KRW 1,000 spent at Shinsegae Duty Free’s offline and online locations after completing and picking up their purchases. Members are eligible to earn up to 1,000 points each month. The partnership also introduces tier matching between the two programs: Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite members will be matched to Shinsegae Duty Free Black status; Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite members will receive VIP status at Shinsegae Duty Free. Conversely, Shinsegae Black and VIP members will obtain Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status.

To mark the launch of this initiative, a pop-up store will open at Shinsegae Duty Free Myeongdong from August 26 to September 4. The space is designed around travel themes associated with Marriott Bonvoy. Visitors can learn about the membership program and its benefits during this period. Those who join Marriott Bonvoy on-site will get a welcome gift while supplies last. Customers who link their accounts across both programs will receive further rewards.

“We are extremely excited to collaborate with Shinsegae Duty Free in South Korea for Marriott Bonvoy’s very first global strategic duty-free partnership,” said Duke Nam, Area Vice President, South Korea, Vietnam, and Philippines, Marriott International. “Today’s launch reflects our commitment to creating meaningful touchpoints for our members— beyond hotel stays. Together with Shinsegae Duty Free, we are connecting lifestyle and travel in a way that is uniquely rewarding, immersive, and distinctly Marriott Bonvoy.”

“Through this strategic partnership with Marriott Bonvoy, we aim to maximize customer satisfaction by combining Marriott’s global network with Shinsegae Duty Free’s curated, customer-centric services,” said Hojin Yang, Executive Vice President of Sales Division. “By offering integrated benefits such as membership tier matching and points earning, we are creating a differentiated experience that connects shopping and travel. We will continue to explore growth opportunities that provide even greater value to our members.”

The move follows an earlier points transfer arrangement between Marriott Bonvoy and Hana Bank in South Korea. With this latest collaboration with Shinsegae Duty Free, Marriott Bonvoy expands its presence in daily consumer activities beyond traditional hospitality services.
