Marriott Bonvoy has started a new campaign in partnership with McDonald’s China, called “Playful Getaways with Marriott Bonvoy.” The campaign is set to run through January 30, 2026, and covers 14 cities. It features hotel rooms themed after McDonald’s characters, dual-branded sightseeing buses in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, and a “Scratch & Win” game for guests.

Betty Tian, Managing Vice President of Customer Group at Marriott International Greater China, said: “Our collaboration with McDonald’s China is driven by our shared pursuit to deliver joyful experiences. As ‘weekend escape’ becomes a lifestyle trend for young travelers, we’ve introduced McDonald’s-themed characters into hotel settings for the very first time, offering members an immersive and playful getaway experience. By featuring Select Brands in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, such as Four Points by Sheraton, Fairfield by Marriott, and Moxy, we are meeting the new generation’s growing desire for short trips and meaningful connections, delivered in a relaxed, flexible, and fun way.”

Yabin He, Chief Growth Officer of McDonald’s China stated: “Starting August 13, McDonald’s China will launch the McDonaldland campaign nationwide, creating a fun and carefree summer travel destination for our customers. We’re delighted to partner with Marriott Bonvoy on this creative collaboration. Through a series of exciting activities, we aim to deliver more vibrant and diverse travel experiences and share the unique joy of McDonaldland with more consumers.”

The campaign began on August 10 in Shenzhen at the Shenzhen Marriott Hotel Golden Bay. Here guests can find the first dual-branded beach experience as well as four hotel rooms designed around popular McDonald’s characters. Specially designed buses leave from flagship McDonald’s locations to Golden Bay Beach before heading out by boat to explore “McDonaldland.”

From August 10 to September 2, Marriott Bonvoy members staying at participating Four Points by Sheraton, Fairfield by Marriott, and Moxy hotels will receive a limited-edition scratch card that may offer prizes such as vacation packages or branded merchandise.

Between August 10 and January 30 next year, hotels across multiple Chinese cities will feature themed guest rooms based on four well-known McDonald’s characters. Guests can enjoy character-themed lounge areas or photo opportunities wearing Ronald McDonald robes. Each guest receives a welcome pack upon check-in along with access to dining and leisure activities.

Additionally, every Friday through Sunday from August 15 to September 2 in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen there will be pop-up city buses offering tours connected to local landmarks. These tours include events like stand-up comedy performances in Shanghai or pet-friendly routes in Shenzhen.
