Marriott International has announced the retirement of Leeny Oberg, its Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Development, effective March 31, 2026. After a tenure of 26 years with the company, Oberg will be succeeded by Jen Mason as Chief Financial Officer and Shawn Hill as Chief Development Officer.
Oberg has served as Marriott’s CFO since 2016 and took on additional responsibilities for the company’s global lodging portfolio in February 2023. Anthony Capuano, President and CEO of Marriott International, praised Oberg’s focus on value creation and her strategic approach to growth. He stated, “Leeny’s strength lies in the depth of her expertise, but also in her warmth, relatability and dedication to support those who work with her.”
Reflecting on her time at Marriott, Oberg expressed pride in her teams’ accomplishments and confidence in the leaders taking over. She remarked, “It has been an honor to be part of the Marriott team.”
J.W. Marriott Jr., Chairman Emeritus of Marriott International, acknowledged Oberg’s contributions during significant company milestones such as the Starwood acquisition and navigating through the pandemic.
Jen Mason joined Marriott in 1992 and currently serves as Global Officer, Treasurer and Risk Management. She will assume the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer once Oberg steps down.
Shawn Hill will become Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer starting January 1, 2026. Hill has been with Marriott for nearly 28 years and is currently responsible for development activities in the Asia Pacific Excluding China region.
Both Mason and Hill will join Marriott’s executive leadership team upon assuming their new roles. Capuano expressed enthusiasm about their appointments: “I am thrilled to welcome Jen Mason as our new Chief Financial Officer and Shawn Hill as our new Chief Development Officer.”
