Francesco Sciortino will join the Executive Board of Lufthansa Airlines as Hub Manager for Frankfurt starting September 1, 2025. In addition to this role, he will become the Accountable Manager for the airline. Sciortino currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Board Member at Austrian Airlines. His previous experience includes serving as Managing Director and Accountable Manager at Germanwings and SunExpress. He is also qualified as a captain on Airbus A330/340 aircraft with Lufthansa.
Klaus Froese, who has been serving as interim Hub Manager for Frankfurt, will transition to flying duties with Lufthansa’s Boeing 747 fleet as planned.
Heiko Reitz, currently a member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Airlines, will assume responsibility as Hub Manager for Munich on September 1, 2025. Jens Ritter, who has held this position alongside his responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will focus on leading Lufthansa Airlines and implementing its turnaround program.
According to Lufthansa Airlines, the company introduced two dedicated Hub Managers in early 2025 to improve operational processes between teams and partners at Frankfurt and Munich airports. Since then, they report that operational stability, punctuality, and customer satisfaction have all improved.
