Brisbane, Australia – InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has officially opened its first property in Brisbane, marking the brand’s debut in Queensland’s capital. Located on Elizabeth Street within the Queen Street Mall luxury shopping precinct, the 319-room hotel aims to offer guests cultural discovery and elevated experiences through new guest programming and service excellence.

The hotel is set for a significant transformation starting in 2026, focusing on enhancing the luxury guest experience while preserving its architectural heritage designed by Harry Seidler. This renovation is part of ISPT’s vision to transform the Elizabeth Street precinct into a vibrant hub of tourism, entertainment, and dining.

InterContinental Brisbane spans 25 floors and includes sophisticated rooms with city views, 19 meeting rooms, one of Brisbane’s largest event ballrooms, an outdoor lap pool, gymnasium, and Latitude 27 Bar & Kitchen. The Club InterContinental lounge on level 25 offers river city views and exclusive experiences for Club guests.

Shaun Parsons, General Manager of InterContinental Brisbane, stated: “We are incredibly proud to now have a footprint in one of Australia’s most dynamic and fast-growing cities and are excited to welcome our first guests through our doors today. To be part of Brisbane’s transformation ahead of the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics is a privilege.”

This opening adds to InterContinental’s presence in Queensland with properties at Hayman Great Barrier Reef and Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast. Rooms start from AUD$319 per night at this new location.

IHG Hotels & Resorts operates 69 hotels across Australasia under various brands including Six Senses, Kimpton, Crowne Plaza among others.
