Holland America Line marked National Pickleball Day on August 8 with events across its fleet, including tournaments, themed activities, and a specialty cocktail. The cruise line’s celebration highlighted its ongoing partnership with the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA).
Aboard the Rotterdam, guests participated in a Pickleball Day Tournament featuring round-robin matches and prizes. Winners received PPA-branded paddles, shirts, and hand towels.
“Pickleball is one of our most popular activities on board, and guests especially love playing out on deck with an unbeatable view that changes day by day,” said Saul Orr, senior manager, cruise programming for Holland America Line. “As the exclusive cruise line partner of the PPA, we were excited to bring even more activities to our courts for National Pickleball Day and help guests create unforgettable moments at sea.”
Fleetwide festivities included expanded play time and lessons led by each ship’s sports director. Guests could also try a pickleball-themed cocktail called the “Backspin Spritz,” which features De Lijn Gin, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, Holland America Line’s branded Sparkling Wine, club soda, lemon juice, mint leaves and cucumber ribbons.
All ships in the Holland America Line fleet are equipped with pickleball courts offering ocean views. Complimentary equipment is available for guest use along with beginner-friendly lessons during each voyage.
