Hilton has announced the opening of The Marcus Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, marking the brand’s first venture in Northern Ireland. Located along the North Atlantic coastline, the hotel is set to open ahead of golf’s 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
The Marcus Portrush is housed in a restored Victorian building that once served as a hotel and artisan bakery. The £11 million renovation preserves historic features while offering modern amenities. The hotel features 80 rooms with designs inspired by a fictional character named Marcus, an adventurer whose tales are depicted throughout the property.
Dining options include Nemesis, an Asian fusion restaurant offering dishes like Irish sirloin steak with bone marrow butter and Korean bibimbap. The Heritage Cocktail Bar provides a cozy atmosphere with drinks crafted from Irish spirits.
Nearby attractions include Bushmills Whiskey Distillery and the Giant’s Causeway. The hotel aims to attract visitors for the upcoming Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club from July 13-20, 2025.
Stephen Cassidy, senior vice president for UK & Ireland at Hilton, stated: “Northern Ireland has seen a strong rise in tourism in recent years… As the only internationally branded hotel in Portrush, The Marcus Portrush offers high-quality accommodation with an authentic local touch.”
Developed under a franchise agreement with Andras House Ltd., Northern Ireland’s largest hotel group, the project is expected to generate £1.1 million annually in visitor spending and create over 40 permanent jobs. Rajesh Rana, director of Andras House, expressed excitement about welcoming guests to this “exciting and high-profile project.”
