Hilton has announced the signing of a management agreement with M&L Group to rebrand The Hotel Maria in Helsinki as Waldorf Astoria Helsinki. This will be the first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Finland, bringing the brand’s renowned service and hospitality to the Nordic region.
The hotel is located in the historic Kruununhaka district, housed in a building designed by architect Lagerspetz in 1885. It features 116 rooms and will undergo rebranding later this year after a short transitional period during which it will remain operational.
Waldorf Astoria Helsinki will offer signature dining options, a bar, fitness studio, and a Nordic wellness spa with a traditional Finnish sauna. Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s senior vice president for development in Europe, Middle East & Africa, stated: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with M&L Group to introduce the Waldorf Astoria brand to Finland. As we near 300 luxury hotels in EMEA, it’s fantastic to have signed our first in the Nordics.”
Jocelyn Kum, executive director of M&L Group, commented on the opportunity presented by rising demand for high-end travel in Finland: “For more than a decade, our trusted partnership with Hilton has been built on shared values and a consistent commitment to excellence. Waldorf Astoria Helsinki marks our eighth hotel partnership.”
Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts is Hilton’s luxury brand with properties across five continents. The Helsinki location joins their global portfolio of 67 hotels trading and pipeline projects.
