Hilton and Ayala Land Hospitality have announced plans to open the first Canopy by Hilton hotel in the Philippines. The new property, Canopy by Hilton Makati, is scheduled to open in 2026 and will be located above the One Ayala development in Makati City, a major business and cultural area in Metro Manila.

Canopy by Hilton hotels are known for their focus on local connections and modern design. There are currently more than 40 Canopy hotels operating across 14 countries, with an additional 40 properties planned. Each hotel aims to reflect its local setting through design and guest experiences.

Maria Ariizumi, vice president of Development for South East Asia at Hilton, said: “Introducing our Canopy brand to the Philippines is a significant milestone, especially in such a vibrant junction in the heart of Makati. Metro Manila is ripe for a fresh perspective on hospitality, and we believe Canopy’s lifestyle approach will resonate with both local and international guests. This launch also marks the beginning of a meaningful partnership with Ayala Land Hospitality, who are passionate stewards of the Canopy vision.”

The upcoming hotel will have 24 floors and feature 400 rooms and suites. Its interiors will use materials and artwork inspired by Manila’s culture. Dining options will include a destination restaurant, rooftop bar with city views, and a speakeasy venue. The hotel aims to serve as a social hub for both locals and visitors by hosting events such as DJ sets and cultural activities.

Recreational amenities will include a pool deck and gym facilities offering group classes. Meeting spaces at the hotel are designed to support creative gatherings or celebrations.

Alexandra Murray, area vice president and regional head for South East Asia at Hilton stated: “The Philippines continues to shine as a vibrant and dynamic destination, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and warm, welcoming people, making it an ideal setting for the Canopy experience. Makati has long been—and will remain—a favorite among travelers seeking a mix of urban sophistication, culture and lifestyle experiences.”

George Aquino, president & CEO of Ayala Land Hospitality added: “We’re thrilled to team up with Hilton to bring Canopy’s vibrant spirit to Manila. It’s not just about adding rooms—it’s about creating stays that spark curiosity and celebrate Filipino creativity. This exciting collaboration brings us closer to our goal of shaping the Philippines into a must-visit destination, one unforgettable stay at a time.”

Guests staying at Canopy by Hilton Makati can participate in Hilton Honors, which offers benefits like flexible payment options using points or money when booking directly through official channels.
