New York is preparing for a vibrant Fourth of July weekend with events across the state. Celebrations include fireworks, parades, and historical reenactments, offering a variety of ways to commemorate Independence Day.
Fort Ticonderoga in the Adirondacks will host a living history event from July 4-6. Attendees can explore military history through tours, cannon demonstrations, and music by Fifes & Drums. “Celebrate freedom by exploring the year 1775 and the events leading up to American Independence,” organizers say.
In New York City, Macy’s annual fireworks display will light up the sky over the river starting at 8 p.m., featuring patriotic music and pyrotechnics. Albany’s Empire State Plaza will host live performances and fireworks from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., attracting around 20,000 people.
Jones Beach State Park on Long Island offers its Fireworks Spectacular on July 4th at 9:30 p.m., while Ellicottville Summer Music Festival in Chautauqua-Allegheny features live music and a fireworks show over three days.
LEGOLAND in Hudson Valley presents “Red, White & BOOM,” where visitors can enjoy LEGO-themed fireworks with special viewing glasses included in park admission. Alexandria Bay’s Boldt Castle serves as a backdrop for its own fireworks display on July 4th.
Lake Placid offers various activities including horse shows and a parade featuring Olympic athletes before ending with fireworks over Mirror Lake. In Queensbury, West Mountain hosts Music on the Mountain with live bands and scenic chairlift rides.
Buffalo Bisons face off against Rochester Red Wings at Sahlen Field on July 3rd, followed by a concert from Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and a large fireworks display.
Poughkeepsie’s Walkway Over the Hudson provides an ideal platform for viewing city fireworks during their ticketed event from 6 to 9:30 p.m., while Dutchess County offers multiple displays including one after Hudson Valley Renegades’ game against Brooklyn Cyclones.
Cazenovia continues its tradition of foot races on July 4th morning with options for different age groups. Springfield holds its Annual Parade at Glimmerglass State Park followed by live music and evening fireworks.
Blackthorne Resort in Catskills promises family fun with East Durham Town Parade and other activities like frog catching contests. Genesee Country Village & Museum hosts games, picnics, and readings of the Declaration of Independence.
Cortland County’s celebration includes live music at Dwyer Memorial Park starting at 2 p.m., culminating in nighttime fireworks on July 5th. Dunkirk’s festivities span two days with food vendors, concerts, and concluding with a run/walk event.
Finally, Ticonderoga’s Best Fourth in the North Celebration features parades, craft vendors, kids’ activities along Bicentennial Park from July 1-4.
