Delta Air Lines is making significant upgrades to enhance the travel experience for passengers flying between Nigeria and the United States. Starting July 1, customers departing from Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos will have access to a newly renovated premium lounge. This facility aims to provide a more comfortable ground experience with contemporary design, high-speed Wi-Fi, private relaxation areas, and premium refreshments.
Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India, stated: “With the launch of our new premium lounge in Lagos and the introduction of our most advanced aircraft on our routes, we are reaffirming Delta’s commitment to Nigerian travelers. This is an investment in infrastructure, and we strive to deliver an exceptional travel experience from West Africa to the world.”
In addition to the new lounge, Delta will introduce its latest aircraft on routes between Lagos and the U.S., starting this October. The Airbus A350-900 will be deployed on the Lagos–Atlanta route beginning in October. Between December 2 and January 16, the Airbus A330-900neo will operate on the Lagos–New York route during peak holiday travel times.
Joseph Young, Delta’s General Manager for Europe, commented: “Delta has served Lagos for nearly 20 years, and it is a vital gateway for us. These enhancements reflect our long-standing partnership with Nigeria. Whether it’s the comfort of Delta One Suites or the warm hospitality in our new lounge, we’re elevating every step of the journey for our customers.”
The A350-900 offers a quieter experience with improved fuel efficiency and wider seats. It replaces the A330-200 on the Atlanta route with a 35% increase in seat capacity. The A330-900neo provides better cabin pressure and humidity than its predecessor on flights to New York-JFK.
Both aircraft feature Delta’s signature suites with lie-flat seats equipped with sliding doors for privacy. Passengers can enjoy luxury bedding by Missoni as part of an expanded partnership between Delta and this Italian fashion brand.
By early April 2025 all transatlantic flights will offer fast free Wi-Fi presented by T-Mobile enhancing connectivity across journeys from West Africa or Europe towards America while maintaining seamless experiences throughout each stage until touchdown back home again someday soon enough!
