Comfort, the main hotel brand of Choice Hotels International, Inc., will hold a free one-day “Waffle Lounge” pop-up event in New York City on August 21. The event is set to take place at 31 East 17th Street in Union Square and will run from noon to 7:00 p.m.

The Waffle Lounge aims to highlight the role waffles have played in the Comfort guest experience since the early 1990s. According to a recent national survey, about 70% of Americans now prefer familiar, nostalgic meals over gourmet options. Waffles are featured as part of Comfort’s complimentary breakfast service and more than 30 million are served each year at its hotels.

“Waffles are a recognizable and meaningful part of the Comfort brand experience,” said Jenny Aboudou, Head of Upper Midscale Brands at Choice Hotels International. “At Comfort, waffles are an iconic part of our free hot breakfast that guests know and love. They reflect our commitment to delivering a warm, welcoming stay for every guest. Hosting a community event in New York City is a great way to highlight how this simple offering continues to resonate with travelers.”

Attendees at the pop-up can expect free waffles with various toppings from a food truck, specialty drinks from a latte bar, nail art services, massage chairs for relaxation, limited-edition waffle-themed merchandise, photo opportunities, and a chance to win an overnight stay at participating Comfort or other select Choice hotels.

In addition to the event in New York City, beginning August 21 people across the country can enter for a chance to win one-night stays by engaging with Choice Hotels’ Instagram account and signing up for its Choice Privileges rewards program.

Choice Hotels International operates nearly 7,500 hotels worldwide under 22 brands and has more than 2,100 Comfort locations globally. The company provides amenities such as free Wi-Fi and hot breakfasts as standard offerings across its properties. More information about their offerings can be found at www.choicehotels.com.
