Handmade quilts, baskets, and crafts will be featured at the 50th Annual Black Belt Folk Roots Festival. The event includes blues performances on Saturday and gospel music on Sunday. Attendees can enjoy downhome cooking, soul food, skins, fish, and homemade ice cream.

The festival offers a children’s tent with art activities, pottery making, face painting, and games. It is a free event celebrating craft persons, musicians, dancers, storytellers, food specialists, artists, and community workers from the West Alabama region. The festival is scheduled for the fourth Saturday and Sunday in August; Saturday’s events run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Sunday’s are from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
