The Italian American Heritage Society is set to host the second annual Festa Italiana in Birmingham on June 7, 2025. The event will take place at Sloss Furnaces from 3 to 10 p.m., offering attendees a chance to immerse themselves in Italian culture through music, food, and various activities.
Festa Italiana will feature different themed villages providing unique experiences. Attendees can participate in contests such as Bocce Ball and the Spina Stomp grape stomping competition. “Contests and competitions for attendees are available on a first-come, first-served basis or by signing up in advance on the website,” according to the organizers. Winners of the Bocce Ball tournament will receive a trophy.
A raffle will offer participants a chance to win a nine-night trip to Italy for two, valued at $13,000. Tickets for this raffle are priced at $50 each and can be purchased online or at the event.
The Food Village promises an array of Italian dishes including sausage-and-pepper sandwiches and desserts like cannolis and gelato. Authentic beverages such as Tito’s Limoncello and Back 40 Italian Lager will also be available. Several vendors have already signed up to participate.
The Villagio Culturale aims to replicate an Italian village with features like a fountain, church, bakery, and museum. Resources on ancestry research and dual citizenship will be provided for those interested in learning more about their heritage.
Entertainment includes performances by The University of Montevallo Jazz Band and Encore Dance’s “A Day in Italy.” Ken Gilmer will perform hits by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin before headliner Vanessa Racci takes the stage with Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato making a special appearance.
Tickets for advanced general admission are priced at $10, while day-of-event tickets cost $15. Children aged 10 and under can enter free of charge. Organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance due to potential sellouts.
Sponsors of Festa Italiana include Bruno Rumore Foundation, Coca Cola Bottling United, Classic Car Motoring, among others.
