Bangkok, 24 June 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) collaborated with AirAsia to host the “AirAsia Skytrax 16 Years Celebration” in Krabi. Over 120 key opinion leaders and media representatives from across Asia attended the event, which aimed to boost Green Season travel and showcase Krabi’s safety, sustainability, and tourism potential.

The event featured the debut of AirAsia’s commemorative “Still Winning, Still Gold” aircraft livery. This celebrates its achievement as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax for the 16th consecutive year. The specially designed aircraft was welcomed at Krabi International Airport on June 19.

Mr. Suvit Suriyawong, Vice Governor of Krabi, commented: “Krabi is honoured to welcome guests from across Asia and beyond. With breathtaking landscapes, eco-friendly experiences, and the warmth of our people, we invite everyone to enjoy Krabi—not just once, but all year round. I’m confident you’ll return home with meaningful memories and inspire others to visit.”

Held from June 19 to June 21, the trip introduced participants to various tourism offerings in Krabi. A welcoming dinner at The Beach Krabi included cultural performances, eco-print textile demonstrations, Thai wellness services, and a presentation of TAT Connex—a digital platform linking KOLs to Thai tourism content for global promotion.

Ms. Parichart Boonclai, TAT Executive Director of the Marketing Services Department stated: “Thailand is a year-round destination, and the Green Season is perfect for discovering natural beauty and local culture. Krabi exemplifies our commitment to sustainable tourism through the ‘Krabi Prototype,’ which supports low-carbon travel, eco-conscious businesses, and community-led experiences like mangrove tours in Ban Thung Yee Peng and marine activities around Ko Ngai.”

In 2023, Krabi attracted approximately 6.3 million visitors generating over 90 billion Baht in revenue. Popular attractions include Maya Bay—which was named the world’s most Instagrammable beach by Heepsy—Phi Phi Islands, Railay Beach among others. The province offers hot springs and limestone landscapes along with vibrant local culture and has been a filming location for productions such as Jurassic World Rebirth.

The celebration was part of marking AirAsia’s ongoing recognition by Skytrax over 16 years. Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya expressed that this recognition reflects AirAsia’s team commitment and passenger trust while emphasizing plans for regional network expansion.

To commemorate this milestone AirAsia launched a limited-time promotion on selected routes including discounts on baggage fees available until July 3rd via official platforms.
