11 hotels across New York offer fall foliage experiences statewide

Travelers looking to experience New York’s fall foliage have a range of hotel and inn options across the state. The Deer Mountain Inn in the Catskills offers six rooms and four cabins on a 168-acre property, with features such as original stone fireplaces and large windows. Guests can arrange activities like bike rentals, visit the Hunter Mountain Skyride, or explore North-South Lake State Campground.

The Roycroft Inn in Greater Niagara, established in 1905, is located near the Roycroft Campus, a National Historic Site tied to the Arts and Crafts Movement. Visitors can also see local attractions such as Vidler’s 5 & 10 and Knox Farm State Park.

In Central New York, Mill Pond Inn provides a country setting in a restored building from 1879. The inn has an on-site tavern using local ingredients and is close to destinations like Howe Caverns and Beekman 1802.

The 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel in Clayton offers waterfront views of the St. Lawrence River with fall colors along its banks. Guests are within walking distance of shops and museums or can drive to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse via Cape Vincent.

Rocking Horse Ranch in Hudson Valley is an all-inclusive resort known for horseback riding and family activities on its 500-acre property. Nearby attractions include Walkway Over the Hudson and Mohonk Preserve.

Lake Placid Inn Hotel features lake and mountain views in Adirondacks Village, close to shopping, dining, outdoor adventures at Experience Outdoors, High Falls Gorge, and Whiteface Mountain.

Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa is set within Saratoga Spa State Park’s 2,200 acres. The hotel offers spa treatments at Roosevelt Baths and Spa and is pet-friendly. Downtown Saratoga Springs is nearby for additional dining and shopping options.

Chautauqua Harbor Hotel sits on Chautauqua Lake in Celoron. A short drive leads to Panama Rocks for hiking among rock formations. In Jamestown, guests can visit the National Comedy Center or Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History.

It features lakefront accommodations with access to the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail for wine tasting amid autumn scenery. Sister property New York Kitchen collaborates on regional recipes.

Shelter Island House on Long Island provides access to beaches, bike rides around Shelter Island, dining at Chez Marie or nearby restaurants, Mashomack Preserve’s tidal basins, as well as wineries on both North Fork and South Fork.

JW Marriott Essex House New York overlooks Central Park’s more than 18,000 trees (https://www.centralparknyc.org/trees), providing city visitors with views of fall foliage from Midtown Manhattan. The Art Deco landmark first opened in 1931 and now includes over 500 rooms under JW Marriott management.
